Liturgical Ministry Training - Workshops 2016

These specific ministry training courses are based in the main on the "Powerful Points for Liturgical Ministers" training packages, which are endorsed by the Australian Bishops’ National Liturgical Council (see Appendix I). In addition to the "Powerful Points for Liturgical Ministers" packages, there are five packages based on courses run in the past three years in the Diocese - Introduction to the Ministry of Sacristan, Ministry of Projectionist, Ministry of Cantor of the Psalm, Ministry of Accompanist, Ministry of Music Administration (including Copyright), and Ministry of Music Coordinator. These are being packaged in a similar format to "Powerful Points for Liturgical Ministers" to provide consistency of slides and teacher notes. Depending on the ministry, there are between two and four sessions, each designed to run for 90 minutes. It can be completed over two to four weekday evenings (2-4 x 90 minutes) or on a Saturday morning and/or afternoon (3 - 6 hours duration). It is targeted to all liturgical ministries outlined in the Ministry Directory.

The following ministry training workshops are scheduled for February 2015:

Acolytes, Adult Altar Servers and

The ministry of Audio Visual Operator (Projectionist) is critical to the smooth running of many Masses in our Diocese. It will situate the role of the projectionist in the Order of Mass and the important relationship with the presider and the music coordinator. It will offer tools and resources for sourcing texts and recording usage for copyright purposes. The session will further provide a forum for discussion of issues among projectionists.  It will feature the use of the OnSong lyrics projection and backing tracks playback system (for iPad and iPhone). It will also look at a comparison of the benefits of different software solutions. Bookings are essential.

Ministry Training:
Children's Liturgy of the Word

Saturday, 11 October, 2014

Our Lady of Mount Carmel Retreat Centre & Parish Hall

St Andrews Rd, Varroville

9:00am – 3:30 pm (lunch, morning and afternoon tea / coffee provided).

The day comprises a Keynote Address on Family and Children's Ministry by Dr Aoife McGrath, two ministry training sessions for ministers of Children's Liturgy of the Word and a third workshop by Michael Mangan and Anne Frawley-Mangan on Music for Masses with Children. The Children's Liturgy of the Word ministry training is part of the Sharing the Joy of the Gospel Family and Children’s Ministry Conference 2014. The two ministry training sessions are based on the Powerful Points Ministry Training Courses for Children's Liturgy of the Word. We uncover the meaning and rationale of celebrating a separate children’s Liturgy of the Word. We overview the celebration, exploring its nature as both proclamation and celebration as well as its ritual structure. We consider the participants and ministers involved and explore some practical issues and suggested resources.
